Kaleido Hope (2018)
This sculpture was made for the 2018 Cockington Court Sculpture Trail in Devon. It was made to utilise a disused space within the grounds. This piece attempts to examine the perception of life and death through humour and celebration. Using Kaleidoscopes viewers are able to see beauty in the representation of death. It explores movement through Optical effect and uses imagery based on Día de Muertos the Mexican ‘Day Of The Dead’. It is made from aluminium, polyester and epoxy resin, mechanical components and found objects.

Life Expectancy (2011/2015)
This video documents a series of sculptures shown twice in solo shows during 2011 and 2015.
‘Manufactured Organism’ and ‘Manufactured Organism 3 (Pods) express my interest in the artificial evolution of human kind through Gene Cloning, Stem Cell research and Electronic advancement. They reflect the conflicting opinions that people have with this form of evolution by mimicking life forms, which cause the viewer to question whether they are a form from nature, from extraterrestrial life, or a clumsy man made interpretation of one of the former.
‘Conscious Of Time’ and ‘Precious Time’ reference my own worry with the passing of life. ‘Conscious Of Time’ uses mechanisms alongside found objects to create an assemblage piece. The machine qualities of the work are aesthetically important, as is the kinetic element, which depends on audience participation. This lures the viewer into the physical motion of passing time. ‘Precious Time’ expands on this notion by expressing the passing of time at an accelerated manner when the viewer activates the piece. The mechanism is housed in a padded case as a reference to trying to contain time or control it.

Colony- (2011/2015)
This sculpture was originally made in 2011 and exhibited in a dark stone barn gallery space, but was adapted in 2015 by creating a darkened space for it within a lit gallery space. The forms draw on my interest with ‘pod’ like shapes as a way of creating mystery to the thought of what lies within? I was also inspired by the images I have seen of unripe mangoes growing on trees in India. The mangoes have a milky white colour and look quite unlike the fruit we eat. The association with mangoes is only intended to go as far as expressing my interest with attempting to manufacture deliberately artificial looking representations of natural forms. My stronger concern is with creating an interaction, a mood, and an environment. To create something which may or may not be alive? Something which may be natural or un- natural?

Flush- (2014)
Flush was made in spring 2014. It is made from polyester resin and mild steel. It's form has no particular reference, it has developed purely from my imagination and re-occuring interest in abstract arc and circular shapes. It is interactive, and relies on a manual input from the viewer by pumping a lever several times. This creates a cycle of water through the sculpture. It was made for an exhibition at Buckfast Abbey, Devon.

Communicones- (2013)
This is a kinetic sculpture which can be turned by hand or by the wind. It is made from steel and polyester resin. The ideas behind it are related to my on going working theme of the relationship between mankind and nature. My work references trying to mimic nature with the knowledge that nature always has the upper hand. Sculptural forms are made to look like hybrids of natural and man made structures, with the hint of something a bit alien about them.

Radial Searcher- (2012)
This is a kinetic sculpture I made in 2012. It is motor powered, and activated by the viewer using a movement sensor. The ideas behind it are a reflection of the relationship between nature and mankind. The shape of the sculpture references plants and flower heads opening up in blossom. But it purposely looks manufactured in reference to humankind trying to mimic nature. It also aims to question whether this could be some sort of satellite communicator or an object from another world.
